 Homestead Christmas Apple Crumble

Explore healthier dessert alternatives this holiday season 🎄 ❤️ 🌟

As Christmas approaches, stores are brimming with tempting treats! Overcome the urge and combat temptation by experimenting with healthier, and perhaps more traditional, alternatives to the overly sugary and unhealthy foods often consumed during the holiday season.

I love whipping up this apple crumble, which pairs deliciously with fresh cream or coconut yogurt.

Homestead Christmas Apple Crumble

To gather

6 cups thinly sliced apples (about 6 medium apples)

1 tablespoon lemon juice

1/4 cup honey

1 teaspoon cinnamon

1/2 teaspoon nutmeg

1 cup whole oats

1/2 cup almond meal

1/2 cup chopped walnuts or pecans.

1/4 cup melted coconut oil

To create

1. Preheat your oven to 200 degrees

2. Toss the sliced apples with the lemon juice, 2 tablespoons of the honey, 1/2 teaspoon of the cinnamon, and the nutmeg. Arrange in a baking dish.

3. In a separate bowl, combine the oats, almond meal, and nuts. Stir in the coconut oil, the remaining 2 tablespoons of honey, and 1/2 teaspoon of cinnamon until well combined.

4. Spread the oat mixture evenly over the apples.

5. Bake for 45-50 minutes, until the apples are soft, and the topping is golden.

6. Let the crumble cool for a few minutes before serving. Serve with coconut yoghurt or whipped cream.
